Getting Around Whitefish

HomeAbout the AreaGetting Around Whitefish

Whitefish is a bustling mountain town in Montana that offers proximity to nearby ski slopes, hiking trails, watersports, cultural attractions, museums, educational venues, restaurants, and much more. It is no wonder that people flock here from all over the world to immerse themselves in this beautiful and low-key community nestled in the mountains of Montana. But how do you get around Whitefish once you drive? Is it hard to get from Point A to Point B? Luckily for tourists, there are many transportation options for getting around Whitefish during your stay here. Check It out!

Airport Shuttle

Once you fly to Whitefish and arrive, you can use the airport shuttle to get to your accommodation option. The airport shuttle runs from nearby Glacier Park Airport and Missoula Airport to the downtown areas and most popular tourist destinations in the town.

Car Rental

Another option that you can use to get around is a car rental. Personally, we love renting a car during our stay in Whitefish so we can easily get to hiking trails with ease. Renting a car also gives you the flexibility of doing Going to Sun Road on your own time and taking your time as you wind through the picturesque road and see the lush green pine forests, snow-capped peaks, and bright blue lakes. Renting a car is cheaper than you may find in bigger cities, so it won’t break the bank.

Taxis or Limos

Another way to get around is to pre-book a taxi, use a transportation app (like Uber or Lyft), or use a limousine. This is not a cost-effective way to see the sights of Whitefish, but we think it can be fun for a unique experience or a splurge when you are going to a fancy dinner or need to get across town as quickly as possible.

Getting Around Whitefish Using Public Transportation

Finally, the last way that you can get around Whitefish and the surrounding areas is to use public transportation. Although Whitefish bus options are limited, you can still take a bus or van to the nearby towns or Glacier National Park if you do not want to drive.
