Cheap Journey to Whitefish MT

HomeJourneys to WhitefishCheap Journey to Whitefish MT

The worst part of most vacations is the one thing you may think can’t be changed, as the costs associated with the average getaway tend to rise higher each year. You find yourself forking out money for plane tickets, rental reservations, attraction admission fees, and of course, dining out nearly every meal. We buy souvenirs to remember our trips, we take millions of pictures and pay to have them printed out and framed. And we find ourselves purchasing new clothes (even though the ones we have are perfectly fine), spending money on rental equipment, and a million other little costs that happen to pop up along the way. But when you choose to vacation in Whitefish MT and opt to stay in one of our I Love Whitefish vacation escapes, this guide to a cheap Montana journey will save your bank account without skimping on fun!

Day 1: All Aboard!

Although you may not want to leave the town of Whitefish (You just got here!), you will want to stop by the Whitefish Depot, located at 500 Depot Street. A working train station for Amtrak, which is quite rare these days in itself, the depot is housed in a building that is over 100 years old, maintaining much of its original architecture and offering up a small museum that tells the tale of Whitefish MT. Admission is free, which means this activity will fit into budgets of all sizes!

Day 2: Picnic in the Park

As we discussed earlier, eating out for every meal can get prohibitively expensive, but a picnic in the park is designed to stretch your vacation dollars even further while allowing you to enjoy the beauty of the Montana landscape. Head over to Les Mason State Park with your cooler (Picnic baskets ARE more romantic, but not as practical in the warmer months!) and your favorite traveling companions and enjoy a few hours of fun in the great outdoors! Offering picnic tables, sandy beaches by the water, and hiking trails that are well maintained, staying entertained is easy, and keeping your wallet closed tight even easier.

Day 3: Find Your Zen

The world can be a scary place these days, and even though you aren’t paying attention too terribly hard during your Montana adventures, finding some time to find your Zen with a SUP yoga class offered by Yoga Hive is worth far more than the actual cost! Taking place on Sunday mornings in July and August, the drop in cost is only $35 for the bundle that includes a SUP board, paddle, and PFD; you will need to register in advance to ensure you have a space in this Whitefish Lake popular class.

Day 4: Eating on the Cheap – Whitefish MT

Obviously, our fully equipped kitchens mean you won’t have to eat out for every meal, but it is always nice to let someone else do the work once in a while, and there are ways to fill your belly without emptying your bank account during your stay in Whitefish. The Bulldog Saloon at 144 Central Avenue is a perfect example, offering the comfort food your soul craves, the beverages that sate your thirst, and prices that will make you smile! The Bulldog Burger, topped with ham, onions, and cheese, is always the right choice, in case you were looking at the menu and were wondering where to start. For those who want to play while they eat, the Pin & Cue, 6570 US Highway 93 South, is open every day from 6 AM until 2 AM. They serve hearty breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, and offer pool tables and bowling lanes to keep you entertained!

Day 6: Explore the Town

Whitefish is an all-American town loved by all who visit and inhabited by residents who truly couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. The downtown area looks as if it is a picture on a postcard, featuring colorful buildings and shops that sparkle anytime, but really stand out against a blanket of snow. Take some time to walk the streets, peeking in the windows of our shops and sipping a cuppa from the Wild Coffee Company located at 309 Central Avenue. Have a seat on a bench in the Hugh Rogers Wag Park and watch our local fur babies frolic and play or explore the Depot Park with its statues and train cars and an old fashioned gazebo that is strung with lights at Christmas. None of these adventures will cost you more than that cup of coffee you enjoyed, but all will create memories that will last a lifetime!

Day 7: Before You Go

The week will fly by, and before you know it, you will be back on a plane heading home, but before you go, be sure to spend some time enjoying the luxury amenities found in your I Love Whitefish vacation hideaway! Designed to comfort and spoil, they can also help you keep to a budget. Reserve your stay today and contact us!
