When we travel as a group and family, we can sometimes get so wrapped up in the various wine tours, breweries, art galleries, etc. that we can sometimes forget that our little ones also are there for their own relaxing vacation. It is sometimes nice to focus a vacation on them so that they too can experience all the joys of travel—not to mention all that there is to do and see in Whitefish, Montana! So, if you have been thinking this same thing and are looking to plan a special time for your little ones, make sure to read on and discover all that awaits you and your family when you head out on a children’s journey to Whitefish!

Exploring the Natural World

Many of us adults love to head out and enjoy the natural world and get some fresh air while beholding the many beautiful sights that lie hidden amongst the trees. Your little ones are sure to enjoy some chances to explore and play adventurer for a day. For instance, one can head on over to Glacier National Park, which offers 700 miles of trails for you to explore, and you are sure to find that each trail is just as scenic as the last and has its own fair share of surprises. You might also enjoy heading over to Les Mason State Park for those good old-fashioned lake days that both children and adults have come to love. Enjoy playing on 585 feet of sand and lakeshore. As well, one can find picnicking, which is always a rather picturesque activity. However, make sure you don’t miss out on the all the water fun that the lake offers; from kayaking to canoeing to your basic boating, you are sure to enjoy the waters and make memories. If one hasn’t had enough of the waters, then head on over to Whitefish Lake State Park, which features all your favorite lake activities, including hiking and biking along the trail systems as well as water skiing, swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking, and many others.

Enjoying the City

Of course, while there is plenty to do in terms of outdoor activities, one is sure to enjoy some of the various urban activities one can find as well. A good example of the latter, if you’re visiting during the winter, is Base Camp Bigfork, which lies slightly out of town but is very much worth it as your little ones are sure to enjoy either a full day or half day of taking command of a dog sled. You’ll get to practice driving and mushing, caring for the huskies, etc. You’ll even find they offer overnight camping trips via dog sled, which is sure to be a favorite memory for all in attendance, not just the younger ones in your group. Afterwards, you might enjoy taking them to Hank’s Hatchets, which features axe throwing and is sure to be a rather unique activity for the entire family to enjoy. They also might enjoy checking out the Whitefish Farmers Market. While this might not seem like an children’s activity, they are sure to enjoy checking out the various food venders that offer a wide range of different booths and bites. They also are sure to enjoy the live music, which is always a plus, and chances are you just might find yourself grooving along with them!
