If you’re visiting after the summer season, explore the charming Apgar Village for some amazing photo opportunities in the breathtaking winter wonderland. If it’s extreme winter sports you’re after, bring your gear for skiing and snowshoeing or get really crazy and try your luck at ice climbing a glacier.
Explore the Downtown Scene on a Girls’ Getaway
Start your downtown tour with a photo shoot at the still functioning train station. Over 100 years old, the building screams, “If these walls could talk,” and you should listen. While the downtown scene isn’t large by any stretch of the imagination, it’s the perfect spot to get some flavorful coffee drinks and wander aimlessly through old book stores, artist galleries, outdoor outfitters, and all the souvenir shops for the obligatory jar of huckleberry jam you have to bring back to the folks at home.
Whitefish Mountain Resort
Located just 4 miles from town, the Whitefish Mountain Resort is a favorite destination year-round. In the winter, you and the girls will love hitting the powdery slopes on your girls’ getaway. In the summer, the resort transforms into an outdoor amusement park. Home to Montana’s longest zip line tour, you’ll be soaring high above the ski slopes and over trees in no time. Slow your pace a little with the scenic gondola ride, then kick it up again on the alpine slides and summer tubing obstacles. Finally, for the die-hards seeking a true adrenaline spike, try your luck on the cable bridges and rope ladders found within the Aerial Adventure Park. Whitefish City Beach
If you thought Whitefish was all snow and alpine forests, think again. On Whitefish Lake, Whitefish City Beach is seven miles of sandy beach complete with boat docks, gazebos, and picnic tables where you can share delicious picnic lunches and friendly gossip. During the warm summer months, you can rent a kayak or paddleboard for a day of fun on the water with your girls. Bring your own Jet Skis for a little more action, or just swim in the crisp cool waters of this glacier lake. Afterwards, take a nice warm nap on the sandy beach while surrounded by snowy mountain peaks.
Brewery & Distillery Tours
Brew and distillery tours aren’t just for the guys, girls like their libations too! And, the Whitefish area has a booming craft beer and distillery industry, ready for touring and tasting. If your gang likes the hard stuff, two local distilleries to try are Spotted Bear Spirits for house-made vodka, gin, and a nice coffee liqueur, and Whistling Andy where you can taste their whiskeys, gins, the Spirit of Sperry (a huckleberry flavored vodka) and more.

Local Theater
Local theater has always played a big part in the old west. Every old western movie featured a saloon with a stage and some sort of entertainment, even if it was only that lonely piano player. And troupes of actors and entertainers made their way across the frontier to bring lively distractions to the miners, loggers, railroad workers and pioneers that were settling the area.
So, here’s your chance to continue the tradition. The Whitefish Theatre Company has been offering a wide variety of productions for over 42 years and is an example of Community Theater at its best. The Alpine Theatre Project was founded in 2004, with productions are staged by professionals who work on Broadway, but also happen to be local residents. Past productions have included Peter Pan, The Who’s Tommy, Big Fish, and Chicago.
