Buffalo Cafe was founded in the late 1970s when Charlie & Linda Maetzold gained a reputation for serving scratch made breakfast & lunch to the locals of the small mountain town of Whitefish. As the town grew, so did their business, which is exactly why their two sons, Alex and Andy, chose to return to Whitefish to help with the family business. With their return in 2008, so came the expansion of the restaurant to start providing dinner services. Today, Buff’s has earned countless titles including “Best Breakfast,” “Best Family Restaurant,” and “Best Server in Whitefish” year after year.
Breakfast & Lunch
Rest assured you’ll find all your breakfast option at Buffalo’s, from biscuits and gravy to breakfast sandwiches, omelets, oatmeal, and eggs benedict. You might also appreciate something on the lighter side like fresh fruit, granola yogurt, or some avocado toast. You’ll flip, literally, over their buttermilk pancakes and French toast options, but what Buffalo’s is really known for is their “buffalo pies.” Not really buffalo, or pies for that matter, they’re a stack of fresh hash browns grilled with a variety of fixings and served with your choice of toast.
Lunch service begins at 11 a.m. Offering a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, and more, you’ll love the Montana spin on all your traditional favorites. Check out the Hot Date, a burger served with grilled dates, bacon, blue cheese, and samba aioli. When it comes to making your leafy greens a little fancier, you’ll flip over their “secret purple” dressing.
No matter the time of day, treat yourself to one of their many old-fashion milk shakes, one of their ten Montana craft beers on tap, or one of their five specialty mimosas.
Dinner
Offering a fresh variety of appetizers, burgers, soups and salads, the thing that put’s Buffalo’s on the map for their dinner service is their uniquely Montana entrees. Try the Montana Elk Enchiladas, the Bison Meatloaf, or savor the Wild Alaskan Salmon. No matter what you choose, you won’t be sorry.
