Most travelers have their own private bucket list of tourist attractions they want to visit, checking them off as they accomplish each goal. The town of Whitefish features a variety of exciting spots that you’re sure to love, and the following top five Montana tourist hot spots are definitely worthy of adding to your list!

Alpine Slide at Whitefish Mountain Resort, 3808 Big Mountain Road

Although you may think of Whitefish as a primarily winter resort town, the Alpine Slide will soon change your mind as you speed down the only alpine slide in the valley, feeling the wind rush through your hair! You control your speed on this fun activity, using a hand brake that allows you to slow down when you reach your personal maximum speeds. Chairlift number 6, off primary duty as a ski lift in the summer, takes you to the top of the slide and the beginning of your new favorite adventure offering more fun than you ever thought a piece of plastic could provide. Open every day during the summer and on weekends only in September, the season of the Slide starts in June and ends in September.

Alpine Theater Project, 6475 Highway 93 South

Another surprise for first time visitors is learning that Whitefish offers a sophisticated nightlife, with the Alpine Theater Project being the central focus. A much-loved local tradition for over 15 years, it was three Broadway veterans who thought that Whitefish needed a boost in the creative arts department, and as such, it has been serving as a place for special events (The upcoming Wine Auction is something we are all excited about, taking place August 18th through the 20th if you are in the area.) and the much-loved Alpine Theater Project’s Broadway Concert Series held during the summer. This fall the Alpine Theater Project is proud to offer a live performance of the Rocky Horror Picture Show on Halloween weekend, and we can’t wait! At Christmas, special holiday shows help add to the holiday spirit and provide an opportunity to get out of the cold.

Novice climbers will benefit from their Intro to Rock Climbing class, learning the basics; all gear is provided, so you only need to present yourself and an eagerness to learn at the time of the class that comes in full-day or half-day sessions. There are also family and group programs and for those who may already have experience in rock climbing. The Montana Cragging experience will strengthen your skills and push your limits! There is no better way to experience the beauty of the Whitefish landscape than by scaling the rocky face of the mountains.

Glacier National Park, West Glacier

One of the most popular Montana tourist destinations in the world, the only reason this gorgeous park is number two on our list is because it lies just outside the borders of Whitefish in West Glacier! Only 27 miles away, making it the perfect opportunity for a road trip, the Glacier National Park is called the Crown of the Continent and was one of the first parks to be designated an International Peace Park. Offering breathtaking views and hiking, biking, and boating opportunities, the waterfalls, forests, lakes, and glaciers (there are 12 of them) that make up this park will stun and awe you during your Montana vacation!

Whitefish Mountain Resort, 1015 Glades Drive

Our four season destination is the hottest in the winter months when the Whitefish Mountain Resort opens for the ski season! Offering over 3000 acres of terrain and trails—including 111 marked trails—there is simply no better way to spend a cold winter day than by schussing down the slopes and riding the lifts back up again in and endless circle of icy fun! Apparently, the world agrees with us, as tourists from all over flock to our doorstep to participate in this age-old sport, making Whitefish one of the most popular winter resorts in the nation. Featuring four terrain parks for snowboarders and a course where skiers and boarders can play together in harmony, no one is left out of the fun on our mountain!
